Fantasy Superlatives 2022
Every fantasy season is unique in itself. New breakout players, busts, MVPs, Champions, heartbreak, etc. I went through ADP and made my picks for the following pre-season predictions for the 2022 Fantasy Football Season. We will call these our Fantasy Superlatives, and we will see how accurate these predictions were after the end of the season.
Fantasy MVP - D.J. Moore CAR (ADP 36, WR 14)
I am projecting D.J. Moore to be close to his 2021 season totals in catches and yards; while nearly tripling his TD total of 4. Moore should return good enough value on his ADP to be an MVP for fantasy in 2022.
Breakout Running Back - Kenneth Gainwell PHI (ADP 151, RB 51)
Miles Sanders is the incumbent in Philly. For whatever reason, they have not shown much trust in Sanders. The team should still run a lot in 2022, and Gainwell is a terrific pass-catching option. He’s my pick to break out at the running back in 2022.
Breakout Wide Receiver - Kadarius Toney NYG (ADP 119, WR 45)
Toney is a baller on the field. His efficiency was off the charts in limited work in 2021. If he stays healthy in 2022, he will go in the top 24 of fantasy drafts in 2023.
RB 1 Overall - Javonte Williams DEN
It would be easy to go chalk and take Johnathan Taylor or CMC. My selection is Javonte Williams. He was already RB12 last year with 60% of the workload in Denver. With the improvement of the offense as a whole with Russel and an uptick in workload for Williams, I can see him finishing as the RB1 overall in 2022.
WR 1 Overall - Stefon Diggs BUF
Diggs is a true alpha receiver in the league. With an uptick in predicted pass attempts in Buffalo this season, I can see Diggs leading the pack at receiver in 2022.
Sleeper - Isaiah McKenzie BUF (ADP 197, WR 70)
McKenzie is taking over Cole Beaselys's role in the slot. Beasley has finished a top 36 wide receiver in the last 3 seasons, and McKenzie is more explosive. Barring a drastic change in the offensive scheme, McKenzie should finish well above ADP, and become a household name, this season.
Rookie Running Back - Dameon Pierce
Starting the year as RB1 in Houston should give Pierce a comfortable lead in production. By the time Breece Hall, James Cook, or Ken Walker III take over their respective backfields, the lead will be too great for Pierce.
Rookie Wide Receiver - Drake London
London is a physical specimen. He should be able to bail out mediocre at best quarterback play to put up solid rookie season fantasy numbers. He will be the clear #1 wide receiver for his team all season and should accumulate the best rookie stat line in 2022.
