Week One Streamers
We'll start today by saying.. one more day until football! With that out of the way; let's get into some streaming candidates for week 1 of the 2022 fantasy season.
There is a lot of debate about what constitutes a sleeper and what constitutes a breakout. For this exercise, I will be finding 1 or 2 players at each position that lies outside of the ranked starters. This list is very similar to my breakouts and sleeper picks from the offseason. Soon these players will rise up Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR). To Qualify as a streamer you must fall outside of the following ECR:
Quarterback Streamers
Trevor Lawrence (ECR QB18) - Lawrence is starting the year off with the very best matchup possible, based on their 2021 performance. Jacksonville didn't do much to improve their pass defense, and should be an easy opponent to kick off the Trevor Lawrence, Doug Pederson combo in Jacksonville. I project Lawrence will through for 265 yards, 2 Touchdowns, and add 45 yards rushing.
Honorable Mention: Jameis Winston (ECR 16) vs. Atlanta Falcons
Running Back Streamer
Kenneth Gainwell (ECR RB45) - Similar to Lawrence, Gainwell is in a perfect spot to start the season. Detroit gave up the 3rd more fantasy points to the running back position in 2021, and the 3rd most receiving yards to running backs. Targeted on 32% of his routes run last season (2nd in the league), Gainwell is a perfect fit to carve up Detroit this week; even if Miles Sanders is back in the fold. I project Gainwell to catch 6 passes for 85 all-purpose yards this week.
Honorable Mention:
Wide Receiver Streamer
Kadarius Toney (ECR WR43) - Another one of my guys. Toney has massive upside in this one. He is fully healthy coming into the game, and Tennesee gave up the 2nd most fantasy points to the wide receiver position in 2021. Toney drew a target on an elite 25.6% of his routes run last season and should see plenty of action this week. I am projecting him to catch 8 passes for 100 yards and a score.
Honorable Mention: K.J. Osborne (ECR 65)
Tight End Streamer
Gerald Everett (ECR TE17) - Last season Justin Herbert targeted the tight end position on 21% of his passes. The Raiders gave up 28 and 14 tight end fantasy points to the Chargers in their two matchups last season Herbert is going to sling the rock in this one, and Everett is the only tight end in town. I expect him to find the end zone in this one, making him a worthy play at tight end to kick off the year.
